OUR STORY

Founded in 2014, C2X Wrestling Academy is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to cultivating excellence in youth athletics through wrestling, mentorship, and character development.
C2X began when former collegiate wrestlers Tim Hennessey and Vas Lahanas recognized a need in the North and South Carolina wrestling community. While high-level technical instruction was important, they saw an even greater opportunity to create a place where young athletes could find mentorship, accountability, confidence, and community beyond the mat. Tom Tanis, a former athlete coached by Tim and an accomplished collegiate wrestler himself, joined them in building the program.
Tim, Vas, and Tom experienced firsthand the lessons that come from growing up on the wrestling mat and set out to provide those same opportunities for the next generation. Together, they built C2X around the belief that wrestling can develop far more than great athletes. It can build discipline, resilience, leadership, confidence, and character.
That belief became the foundation of C2X: Commitment 2 Excellence.
Today, C2X continues to provide high-level wrestling instruction while creating an environment where young athletes are challenged to grow on and off the mat. Through coaching, mentorship, competition, and community, C2X equips wrestlers with the skills and mindset to pursue excellence in wrestling and carry those lessons into every part of their lives.
